Fred and his wife Pam are Chicago natives. Having a seasonal location in the Naples area since 2001, they purchased their current home in 2013. They are full time residents, although travel in some summer months to Chicago and other locations. They have 3 adult children and 5 grandchildren.
Fred’s background is as a mechanical engineer from Purdue, moving up through the ranks at the family owned transportation equipment finance firm, assuming the CEO and Chairman roles for 36 years before retirement in 2019. Sasser Family Companies provides rail, fleet, airport GSE and tank container management and leasing services in North America and globally. In “retirement” he remains very involved in organizations supporting multi-generational family businesses and financial services for the poor, among others. At ONA Fred follows the water issues affecting our neighborhood. These include the Outfalls project currently underway, lakes remediation, beach remediation and repair, city and county resiliency planning and stormwater issues. Beyond ONA Pam and Fred are strong supporters of Gulfshore Playhouse and the Conservancy.
